My goal this summer!
Actually, I have a few goals. Three more days until my acro team goes to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships. We've been training hard. I didn't even know that I had the muscles that are sore right now! Wish us luck!
My other goal, of course, is to bring more awareness for Kids 4 Kures. I've been busy writing letters to companies, interviewing business people here in San Luis Obispo and contacting community organizations (like Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and Lyon's Clubs) to ask for speaking opportunities at their meetings.
I'll keep updating my progress on my blog. Stay tuned for interviews of Peaches Olson and Reese Davies.

Thanks Mimi Phene-McKellar!
Mimi’s the owner of Central Coast Gymnastics (where I’m an acro gymnast). She’s a member of Executive Networking in San Luis Obispo, and recently she talked about Kids 4 Kures at one of her meetings. She sold a bunch of boxes of cards too. You are awesome Mimi! And thanks to the people at Executive Networking for supporting K4K!

Orlando, Florida, here we come!
My acrobatic gymnastics team qualified for the 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships, so we’re off to Kissimee, Florida. I hope to be able to speak at a few Rotary meetings about Kids 4 Kures while I’m there. I’ve sent letters to Rotary Clubs in Orlando and hope to hear from them soon. I’ll keep you posted. Wish me luck!

Letter to the Editor in the SLO Tribune
Support Kids 4 Kures
Remember the name Emily Flachman. This young student is destined to make a big change in the world!
Flachman is a student at C.E. Teach Elementary School and the founder of Kids 4 Kures (“Good News!” June 19). She and her school friends recently held a fundraiser at a local restaurant for her nonprofit organization.
Flachman was motivated to start this program as a “community action” project encouraged by the teachers at her school. I have had the pleasure of working with Teach Elementary School for the past 17 years with my company, and I am very impressed that its curriculum includes community involvement.
Many of the students select projects that have made great changes in our community, but Flachman took it one step further and has expanded her mission to a much larger scale.
I encourage everyone to visit Kids 4 Kures at http://kids4kures.org and see how you can help Flachman’s program to support cancer charities.
And remember her name, as I am sure she will become a CEO of some large organization one day!
